October Newsletter

Hello and welcome to the October edition of the Brighton Person-Centred Community news.

We have info on our Walking Community group on Saturday 14th October and the Community meeting at Friends Meeting House on Saturday 21st October. There will also be a new group for newly qualified Person Centred Therapists from Saturday 7th October. Read on for info on the groups, an in person CPD event for Person Centred Therapists on Shame in November and also for some info on a Therapeutic Group starting in October.

If you have any questions about attending the meeting, or if you have any ideas or feedback about things we can consider to strengthen the Brighton Person-Centred Community, then please contact Suzi (suzimac55@hotmail.com) and/or William (willjaj@virginmedia.com).

As always, if you have anything you’d like to share that you think would be supportive for Community members or want to reach out for something yourself, do consider using this newsletter as a way to do so. In order for something to appear in the newsletter please send it by the end of the month to appear in the next month’s email (which will come out around the second week of the month).

In Person Meeting

The meeting will take place at 9.30-12.30 Saturday 21st October at The Friends’ Meeting House in Ship Street. You don’t need to email to say you’re coming but if you want to then you can contact William on willjaj@virginmedia.com.

It is £5 to attend but we do not wish money to get in the way if this amount is difficult for you. The fee attempts to cover the cost of the room, and if you would like to pay more than £5 you are welcome to. To pay online our bank details are: PERSON CENTRED COMMUNITY; 08-92-99, 65079432 or you can bring cash to the meeting. Refreshments are available in the break.

Walking Community

All are welcome to the new walking community group. The meeting will be Saturday 14th October at 10am, contact Chris on aihpos58@gmail.com if you are interested. We can walk in silence, talk as we are walking and or both while in nature. This will be from the Warren Road Car Park at the top of the Brighton Racecourse. See COMMUNITY MEETINGS tab for map. Chris’s observations on the group are as follows: “My only request for people attending is that confidentiality be maintained. That we take responsibility to listen with our hearts and communicate with empathy and respect. In my case I am also interested in authenticity.”

Group for recently qualified Person-Centred practitioners

Have you recently completed your person-centred training? Perhaps you are in the midst of setting up private practice, working out what to do now, or how to be yourself in a person-centred way after completing the training. Then this might be for you!

Having qualified a year ago from Metanoia I have missed the support of others and the explorative space offered through the training. My hope is that this group could provide some of that by offering an open, supportive, non-judgemental space for discussions with peers in a similar position. The agenda will be flexible to meet the needs of those attending. It could be what it means to be person-centred finding our unique way with that, or perhaps practical discussions relating to setting up in private practice, or sharing our own experiences to listen and learn together. Let’s see what is present when we meet.

The plan is to meet monthly on the first Saturday of every month. The first meeting will be on Saturday October 7th at New Road Psychotherapy Centre, Hove, from 10am till 12pm. There’s a charge of £7 (plus booking fee) to cover the room cost only. To book your place to attend please follow this link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/group-for-recently-qualified-person-centred-practitoners-tickets-699524385267

For any questions on the group feel free to email Jenn on jennpaynegregory@gmail.com. This group is affiliated with the Brighton Person-Centred community and sits alongside the regular monthly meetings that take place on the third Saturday of the month at Brighton Friends House as well as the walking community and bookclub.
